Cardinals hire Steve Wilks as next head coach

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The Arizona Cardinals have hired Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks as their next head coach.

Wilks was hired by the Panthers in 2012 to be their defensive backs coach. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2017.

Former Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians announced his retirement from the team on January 1. Arians spent five season as Cardinals' head coach and won a franchise-record 50 games.
