L.A. shows a Mexico baseball team some heart

Another example of LA's big heart! A teen baseball team for Central Mexico comes to the Southland to spend the summer. The government of their hometown of Aguascalientes says it'll sponsor them, but at the last minute backs out.

What to do?

The word gets out on social media and, like everything with social media, there is action! The team's assistant coach Joshua Garcia he was surprised. He was worried, and still is, but when good people did what good people do he learned a lesson in human nature.

The De Paul Evangelization Center in Montebello offered beds and a roof. Families offered meals. John Escandon with the Los Angeles Baseball Academy offered to set up games, get umpires, provide field space and some meals.

He says this sort of thing happens more than you think! Lots of organizations, he says, try to sponsor teams, "and, last minute they back out. It happens a little too often."
