Artist Defaces Sandusky Mural Amid Protests

A mural honoring Penn State football head coach Joe Paterno has been partially painted over.

The artist created the mural, called "Inspiration," back in 2001.

Former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky's face was included in the painting.

But on Wednesday, the artist took his brush and painted right over Sandusky.

In Sandusky's place, the artist put a blue ribbon, which is a symbol for the campaign to end child abuse.

The re-painting occurred amid protests after Paterno -- who faces no charges in the scandal -- said he would resign at year's end, but before the university's board of trustees opted instead to end the coach's tenure at a Wednesday late-night meeting.
