Paradise Valley School District Teacher Arrested

Authorities say a man who's a fourth-grade teacher in the Paradise Valley School District has been arrested in a sexual exploitation case.

Phoenix police say 54-year-old Thomas H. Warner was taken into custody Monday on suspicion of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Warner apparently brought a laptop computer in to a technician to be repaired. That technician saw suspicious images and called police.

Police detectives from the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant for child pornography at Warner's home Monday morning and say they found numerous items of child pornography.

Police say Warner has been employed by the Paradise Valley School District for the past several years.

"Obviously this is an individual who's had contact with children. In this case, images were of adolescent boys. We believe he's been in jobs and after work activities that have put him in touch with boys," says Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump.

According to the Paradise Valley School District, he was immediately placed on leave on news of the arrest and was not taken into custody on school property.

Warner taught at North Ranch Elementary School. A phone call was placed to all the parents informing them of the arrest.

Officials say Warner had a Level One clearance card from DPS.

He's been booked into the Maricopa County Jail, but it was unclear Monday afternoon whether or not he has a lawyer.
