David Wiggins has been charged with first degree murder following a car crash that killed an 11-year-old boy.
Wiggins was charged with murder, 3 counts of aggravated assault, and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
On October 8, police were pursuing 30-year-old David Wiggins, who was driving erratically in the area of Warner and McQueen.
According to court documents, Wiggins was driving left of center and ran two red lights, at speeds approaching 100 mph. He struck a vehicle driven by Greg Katsaros and his two sons, 7-year-old Christopher and 11-year-old Alexander. The boys were both in the back seat with seatbelts on.
After the crash, Wiggins left his vehicle and tried to hide from officers. He later became combative and physically violent, documents allege.
Wiggins allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and exhibited signs of intoxication. He was taken to the hospital and has since been released to the ward for continued medical care.
7-year-old Christopher was seriously injured, but will survive. 11-year-old Alexander died as a result of his injuries.
Toxicology results on Wiggins are pending.
