Firefighter Accused of Hit-and-Run Pleads Not Guilty

A Phoenix firefighter pleads not guilty to hit and run charges.

Mark Nehrenz is accused of hitting a teenager who was out rollerblading near 19th Avenue and Union Hills with his vehicle and then leaving the scene.

A witness told FOX 10 a couple of other drivers stopped to help the victim. Another witness called 911, and trailed Nehrenz until police were able to pull him over, authorities say.

Investigators say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Nehrenz, a 34-year veteran of the department, is on administrative leave.

The teen suffered a broken hip and is recovering.
