Hand Center Founder Michael Brown Found 'Not Guilty'

Posted:

A jury has found former hand surgeon Michael Brown 'not guilty' of assaulting his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys presented their closing arguments before the jury Monday. After the jury announced their decision in court on Tuesday morning, officials cut Brown's ankle bracelet monitor for the courtroom to see.

Shortly after, prosecutors used sharp words against Brown, claiming they'd be in court "waiting for wife number five."

Brown, known for appearing in television commercials promoting the Brown Hand Center clinics, was charged with assault of a family member based on an August 2010 incident involving his estranged fourth wife Rachel Brown.

His wife, Rachel Brown, told police Michael Brown grabbed arm and twisted it at the Memorial Drive mansion they shared. She claimed that her husband's actions caused injury to her arm.

Michael Brown also appeared in court in 2002 when he pleaded 'no contest' to assaulting his third wife, who was pregnant at the time.

Brown lost his medical license when he tested positive for cocaine in 2006. He opened the first Brown Hand Center clinic in 1988. The clinics continue to operate in Houston and five other U.S. cities with other doctors at the helm.
