Police Raid Phoenix Goddess Temple

Phoenix Police served a search warrant on a valley church Wednesday night. That church has come under fire in the past when allegations arose that it is not a house of God -- it's a house of prostitution.

Dozens of officers raided the Phoenix Goddess Temple at 24th St, just south of Thomas. It's their third location in as many years.

Police won't say what they're looking for, but we do know that the Goddess Temple has been accused of being a brothel. Officials with the temple have denied those claims.

Back in 2009, we asked an employee of the temple, "Do people have sex in here?"

She responded, "Whatever is happening here it's with the intention of healing."

Witness Shawn Vermillion owns a business next door, and is not surprised.

"They were getting raided, so we all shot up to the door and looked out and saw SWAT surrounding the building and using a battering ram on the doors upstairs," he says. "We just assumed it would happen at some point."

Eleven women and five men have been taken into custody, most of them employees. It's not clear what charges they may face.

According to their website, the temple offers naked life coaching and prostate massages.

Police also raided a related temple in Sedona.
