16-Year-Old Girl Thrown from Car Passes Away

Anita Munoz, the 16-year-old girl who remained comatose after being thrown from a car last week, was taken off life support Monday night.

The apparent victim of a robbery, Munoz is the second person to die over a laptop in the past 6 months. The first was Zachary Marco in Tempe, a 21-year-old ASU student who was walking home from the library when he was shot and robbed of his laptop and cell phone.

Police think Munoz's laptop was the motive for the assault.

Last Wednesday, police were called to the intersection of 67th Avenue and Ocotillo for an injury accident.

Officers found that Munoz had been pushed or thrown from an unknown vehicle. The suspect was not located and is still wanted, and unfortunately, police do not have much to go on.

Munoz was a student at Independence High School. Independence High School released the following statement last Friday: "Words are totally inadequate to express our feelings, but our thoughts and prayers are with Anita and her family."

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Glendale Police Department.
