Man Jailed in Meat Cleaver Attack

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a former female coworker with a meat cleaver, in apparent retaliation for getting fired from his job.

According to court documents, Qui Truong, 27, broke into the victim's house on Saturday afternoon and attacked her and her nephew with a meat cleaver. The victims, 56-year-old Yen Ha and 21-year-old Trong Nguyen, both used to work with Qui at a market.

Qui was recently terminated from his job and police say that is the motive for the attack. He allegedly blamed Yen for losing his job, and in the past, had allegedly threatened to kill her if she didn't stop talking about him at work.

Yen and Trong received numerous lacerations in the attack, and Yen is currently in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Police say both victims were caught off guard and had no chance to defend themselves against the attack.

Yen remains in the ICU and has not regained consciousness.

Qui has been charged with first degree attempted murder and burglary. He is considered a high flight risk because he is not an American citizen -- Qui is in the U.S. on permanent resident status.
