Panel warns against vitamin D supplements

Some women might want to stay away from supplements used to prevent bone fractures.

According to the U.S. Preventative Task Force, postmenopausal women should steer clear of daily low doses of calcium and vitamin D supplements.

New research shows it really doesn't help stop fractures. Taking supplements can, however, increase the chances of getting kidney stones.

Calcium pills have also been linked to heart attacks in women.
