SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Rebecca Kiessling has come to terms with how she was conceived.  That's why she supports Missouri Congressman Todd Akin's message, but she's worried his words will have a chilling effect on other lawmakers.

"My birth mother was abducted in Livonia by a serial rapist at knife point," said Kiessling.

When she was 19, she learned the horrifying details of how she was conceived.  She knows one decision made by her birth mother all those years ago is why she is here today.

"She went to two back alley abortionists and I was almost aborted.  The back alley conditions and the fact it was illegal caused her to back out."

The pro-life supporter believes her story could help the Republican Party get back on point after Akin stirred up a firestorm of controversy.

"If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," Akin said recently.

"I don't think there's a problem with his views.  I think there's a problem with how he expresses them," said Kiessling.

Akin has since apologized saying he misspoke, but he can't take the words back, and that's why this family law attorney is heading to Tampa for the GOP National Convention.  She wants to try and get a meeting with him, stand by his side and let him know she supports his stance on pro-life and hopes her story will convince other lawmakers to stand strong on the issue.

"I have great concern that Akin's comments would have a chilling effect on legislators, that they would think you have to have the rape exception or you're going to be crucified."

Kiessling is well known in the pro-life community.  She travels around the world speaking on the issue, and she is willing to stand with Akin in a press conference to defend his beliefs on abortion.
