TEMPE, Ariz. -

An undercover police sting has led to the arrest of a woman who police say was selling sex on the advertisement website Backpage.com.

Wednesday, an undercover detective called the phone number listed on a Backpage.com escort advertisement and talked to a woman. She instructed him to meet her at her motel room, according to court documents.

Police say the detective arrived at the Quality Inn on 52nd St in Tempe and the female later identified as Teressa Rochelle A. Stevens answered the door.

She allegedly offered the detective sex for money. The detective gave her $140, she accepted the money, and then he gave the arrest signal.

Stevens was taken into custody. She also had marijuana and Spice in her possession, documents allege.

Stevens stated she has worked as a prostitute for the past few years out of different hotels. She is facing charges of prostitution and drug violations.
