APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. -

Flooded washes and muddy messes were a typical sight Friday morning in the east valley, near University Drive and Mountain Road.

Neighbors woke up to lots of rain. The wide wash running through Sun Valley Mobile Home Park turned into a rushing river, surprising some homeowners.

"It's just one of the largest I think we had since I've been here 10 years," said homeowner Dale Osborn.

Rain started coming down around 7 a.m. Big dark clouds covered apache junction. This homeowner realized there would be a lot of rain.

"I have a rain gauge. so far it says 1.3 inches. when it comes that fast and hard we're gonna have it," said Len Wallace.

The rain was an inconvenience for some folks who live there.

"Well you can't get out to get south, got to go north," said Osborn.

One main road around the trailer park was underwater. Some drivers decided to risk it and drive through.

Many homeowners told us they welcome the steady downpour and enjoy watching rain drops fall.

They said the water from the wash has never flooded their homes before.
