TEMPE, Ariz. -

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his business partner, 45-year-old Jason Johnson, who was reported missing on Monday -- and his wife has been accused of helping him cover it up.

The suspect and Johnson co-owned a body shop in Tempe, and after weeks of renovations, the shop still wasn't open.

Family members filed a missing persons report on Monday when Johnson missed several weekend appointments and failed to show up for work on Monday.

The last time anyone had seen him was Friday night at his place of business, Scottsdale Auto Collision Center, at 7015 S. Harl Dr. in Tempe. There had not been any activity on his cell phone or his bank account since then.

Tempe Police Detectives contacted coworkers at Scottsdale Auto Collision. They learned about a confrontation that occurred with Johnson and his co-business owner Chad Norris.

"Said that recently there have been some arguments between the two, and part of it was just over the business itself and how the location was doing," says Tempe Police Sgt. Jeffrey Glover.

When detectives spoke with Chad and Tamara Norris, they say they were unwilling to cooperate.

Surveillance was conducted on Norris, and detectives observed the couple acting suspiciously that led them to believe "they were attempting to cover up a crime," Tempe Police say.

Police say Tamara Norris was spotted loading 7 to 8 large trash bags out of the auto shop into her SUV.

Then, Chad and Tamara Norris were allegedly observed leaving their residence with a box trailer attached to the rear of an SUV. They then drove to an area in Phoenix and allegedly abandoned the trailer.

Detectives released a canine cadaver dog around the outside of the trailer, and the dog alerted to it. They obtained a search warrant for the trailer and inside, found a violent homicide scene, according to police.

Blood, spent shell casings, and a wallet containing Jason Johnson's driver's license were found inside the trailer.

Also inside the trailer was a wooden door with what appeared to be a bullet hole in it. A door was missing from the auto shop.

Police believe that Johnson was killed and his body was hid in an unknown location. They arrested Chad Norris for second degree murder and Tamara Norris for felony hindering. They were booked into the Tempe City Jail.

"I'm feeling numb right now, its kind of like a roller coaster when you try to think about it you just break down," Johnson's sister Erica Weistreich told us by phone.

Johnson leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter.

Even though Johnson's body hasn't been recovered yet, police feel confident in moving forward with charges. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
