Officials: Records set for bald eagles in Arizona

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Wildlife officials say Arizona set two records this year for the number of identified bald-eagle breeding areas and the number of bald-eagle eggs laid.

They say 66 breeding areas were identified, including four new ones.

And at least 80 bald eagle eggs were laid.

Officials say the numbers show that bald eagles are flourishing in Arizona.

Bald eagles were removed from protection under the Endangered Species Act in 2011.
