TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Dozens of copper plates stolen from the Asarco plant in Hayden have been recovered at a home in Marana.

The Arizona Daily Star reports (http://bit.ly/So9dez) that Arizona Department of Public Safety officers who had begun investigating the theft on Thursday had made a traffic stop of a commercial vehicle Thursday on Interstate 10 in Casa Grande.

Authorities say officers found 48 plates in the vehicle's trailer.

Each plate weighs about 880 pounds.

A subsequent search of a search of a home led to the recovery of another 54 plates.

The approximate value of the plates was more than $300,000.
