Reward offered in north Phoenix groping case

Posted: Updated:

Silent Witness is warning women in north Phoenix about a man who's groped a handful of women over the past year, and still hasn't been caught.

He's struck 3 times at neighboring apartment complexes, near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird.

In one case, the suspect walked up to a woman as she was sitting in her car. He told the woman her car was overheating and offered to help. Then he groped her breasts.

At least 3 women have been groped in July and August. Police don't think this guy will stop.

"It happens in seconds," says Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch. "This is a fetish that he is driven towards."

The women in these two complexes are on high alert. Nobody wants to be the fourth victim.

The attacks first started a year ago. Police say he starts a conversation then grabs women and runs away. We found signs posted around this complex, warning women about this guy.

"They've been asking us to be a little bit more aware," says resident Tanya Brown. "It bothers me it really does bother me."

Brown won't feel completely safe walking around her neighborhood until this guy is caught.

He's described as a white man, 30-to-45 years old. He is thin with blonde hair and wears a baseball cap and sunglasses.

Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000.

All the victims are in the 20s. Police say the suspect is very familiar with this area -- he either lives there or used to live there.
