Mesa Police have arrested a 32-year-old man who they say was driving drunk with his young cousins in the car.

Saturday about 6 p.m., a concerned citizen called 911 to report a white GMC Yukon swerving on the roadway near Country Club and McLellan. Police located the vehicle and observed "drunk driving behavior," like reversing to avoid running over a curb, a wide right turn, and stopping too early for a red light.

An officer pulled over the driver and realized there were three children in the back -- an infant, a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old. According to court documents, the driver, Johnny Nathan Romo, had a flushed face, red watery eyes, and smelled of alcohol.

Police say Romo admitted to consuming two 40-ouce beers a few hours before driving. He allegedly failed a field sobriety test and a portable breath test registered at 0.141. He then consented to having his blood drawn.

The children, who were Romo's cousins, were turned over to their mother. He is facing charges of aggravated DUI.
