Study: Checking social media is more tempting than sex or cigarettes

A new study finds checking Twitter and Facebook is more tempting than you would ever guess -- more addicting than cigarettes and sex!

It's a study coming out of the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, and it shows people's yearning need to check social media is stronger than lighting up a cigarette or having sex.

The study followed 250 people in Germany for a week using smart phones, checked in with them every 30 minutes, and found the hardest desires to resist were going on to social media sites.

They wanted it more than cigarettes, alcohol and yes even sex.

The study's lead author says people can become addicted to social media because it's free, readily accessible, and harder to turn down.

But not everyone agrees.

We hit the ASU campus to see what people thought. FOX 10's Alexis Vance reports.
