GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. -

A 57-year-old Maryland woman was killed when her car rolled, about 2 and a half miles south of the entrance to Grand Canyon National Park.

It happened Tuesday about 11:45 a.m. on Highway 67, on the North Rim of the canyon.

Carol Cook of Woodbine, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears her vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree, causing it to roll on its side. Cook and her passenger were both wearing seatbelts.

The male passenger was transported to Kane County Hospital in Utah for treatment of minor injuries.

National Park Service, DPS, and Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating.
