A teenage boy allegedly broke into a home in the middle of the night on Tuesday and stole a woman's purse.
Deputies said a woman and her husband were asleep in their home in Florence when they thought they heard a noise downstairs.
On her way back up the stairs, the woman was confronted by a 13-year-old boy who was holding her purse. Deputies said she yelled for help and told the boy to give it back but he kicked her in the stomach and ran.
The husband chased the boy down the street until he saw him go into a home.
The couple called deputies and they went to the home and spoke with a woman who lived there. The woman told deputies she lived with her grandson.
The woman recognized the grandson as the boy who allegedly broke into her home. Deputies said he later admitted to what he had done.
Deputies also found out the boy was already on probation from a prior burglary and wore an ankle bracelet as part of his probation. He also has a case pending for a burglary for involving a gun.
The boy was taken into custody and booked into juvenile detention for armed robbery, theft, burglary and assault.
