TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering a reward of up to $1,750 for information that leads to an arrest in the killing of up to three Gould's turkeys in a canyon north of Nogales.

The agency says two Hispanic males, one his late 40s to early 50s, another about 16 years old, are sought in the turkey poachings that occurred Saturday in the Josephine Canyon area.

Authorities say both suspects were wearing camouflage and carrying rifles.

The agency, along with the National Wild Turkey Federation and others, has been reintroducing Gould's turkeys in the Sky Island mountain range since the 1980s. Officials say the population may now number up to 1,000 after nearly vanishing from the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Operation Game Thief at 1-800-352-0700.
