An extremely dangerous inmate is in custody after escaping from the Lower Buckeye Jail Sunday morning.

Authorities say Adan Orduno was found in a car with a black male near 7th Avenue and McDowell Road at 6:15 p.m. He was missing for about nine hours.

The man told deputies he saw Orduno walking in just his pink underwear on the street and thought he had just gotten out of jail. He picked him up and they went by Orduno's mother's house so he could get some clothes.

Through interviews and other undisclosed sources, undercover officers found out where Orduno was headed and were waiting for him in the area of 7th Avenue and McDowell Road. They immediately placed him under arrest.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Orduno fooled detention officers by gathering empty boxes of milk and arranging his uniform to look like he was there sleeping.

Deputies are investigating how Orduno escaped, but they found a ceiling tile peeled off in his cell and suspect he may have climbed through the ducts somehow.

Orduno has been in the psychiatric ward of the jail since July. Officers discovered he was missing from his cell around 9 a.m.

Arpaio said Orduno told deputies he was hoping to "commit suicide by cop" and if he had the chance, he would have pointed a gun at officers so they would kill him.

Deputies are questioning the black male Orduno was found driving with.

MCSO originally thought Orduno may have been hiding somewhere inside the jail but they later confirmed he had escaped.

Orduno is considered extremely dangerous. He was arrested in November 2011 on attempted murder charges after shooting at officers during an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Phoenix.

He faces new charges related to his escape from the jail.

Orduno has also been to prison for burglary, theft and aggravated assault.

There are over 600 cameras at the facility and officers are investigating how he slipped under the radar.

Arpaio will review security measures at the jail because he said one escape is too many.

"There is some situation that we discovered in a building of this jail so we're going to look at all the avenues about this type of jail and once again, if there is any security lapse or problems in the jail," said Arpaio.
