Holbrook, AZ -

A pilot walked away after crashing his plane in the Sitgreaves National Forest, northeast of Pinetop, Friday morning.

Deputies say 61-year-old Robert A. Wolff was traveling from Durango, Colo. to Mexico when his plane suffered a catastrophic oil failure. The plane crashed in a wooded area near Forest Service Road 45.

The fixed wing plane was a 2005 Super SR 22 registered to Durango Development Inc. in Colorado.

After the crash, Wolff used his cell phone to call the Federal Aviation Administration to report the crash. The FFA called Navajo County Sheriff's office and deputies found Wolff and the plane.

Wolff was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
