Two people were killed while leaving a funeral service when their car was hit by a pickup truck.
According to the Department of Public Safety, 30-year-old Tammy Hinojosa and 35-year-old Timoteo Hinojosa Jr. had been attending a service at a cemetery.
As they were leaving the cemetery, the couple's car came to a stop at SR 87, near milepost 117, DPS said. Tammy Hinojosa proceeded through the stop sign and was T-boned by a large pickup truck pulling a 3-quarter ton trailer.
DPS says the couple were at fault because they drove into the path of the truck, which had the right of way.
"This road where the truck was coming from is a straight road that connects to the interstate, as you can see... nothing to impede your vision from the area of the intersection," said DPS Sgt. Lee Bradshaw.
Both Tammy and Timoteo Hinojosa were pronounced dead at the scene.
As for the truck driver, we do not have any information on whether he or she was hurt.
