PHOENIX -

Police say they arrested a 25-year-old man, his girlfriend and her brother for failing to help the man's 3-year-old daughter after she was severely burned in hot water on Dec. 9.

Aaron Alston, his girlfriend Kenyatta Gill and her brother Terrell Williams were arrested on Monday.

Police say Gill admitted to dipping Alston's daughter in severely hot water after she urinated in her clothes.

The burn was extremely severe and the little girl should have been taken to a hospital immediately. Instead, police say Alston didn't try to get the girl any type of medical attention.

Alston told police he knew about the burn and that the girl was in bed for two days with chills and needed help going to the bathroom and eating.

Police say Alston told them it wasn't his responsibility because it was his child.

Even after police explained the severity of the burn, they say Alston maintained the belief that no one should be held accountable for the girl's injuries.

Alston faces charges of child abuse.
