During this time of the year, holiday treats can make it difficult for many people to keep the weight off.

On Wednesday, Dr. Mehmet Oz stopped by Good Day to offer some tips on how to lose weight and shred the fat.

Dr. Oz says it's important that you vary what you do, almost as if to confuse the fat.

He says resolutions are effective, but you have to find ones that will work for you.

Below, we've listed the following tips from Dr. Oz to help you get healthy in 2013.

Tips:

Be Specific: Figure out how many pounds you want to lose and when you plan to lose them.

Be Public About It: Tell everyone you know about your goal to lose weight so that they can support you.

Change Your Environment: Bring different foods into your home and come up with a plan for exercise and staying in shape.
