From the dresses to the bands, there is plenty of excitement in the air. The Rich Central Band was practicing Friday morning, getting ready to head to Washington to compete and perform at the Presidential Inauguration festivities.

"It's just exciting," says sophomore band member Jaya Thomas. "It's just mind blowing that I get to be there for such a historical event."

The band packed their bags and made way for the more than 12 hour trip for President Obama's second inauguration.

The South Shore Drill team is also heading to the inauguration. They held one last practice Friday afternoon before their Friday night departure. They'll perform at the Youth Inaugural Ball on Sunday and march in the parade on Sunday.

It's been a long battle for the team who needed $45,000 for transportation, lodging and food to get to the Inauguration. They turned to the community for help and were able to get all the funds--and then some--to head to D.C.

"I feel relieved now, because we're finally here," says Raeven Funnye of the South Shore Drill Team. "Like, all of the practicing and getting prepared has finally come and now we can leave."

"I know we've got to do our best because the President, especially because we're from his home town so he wants us to do our best and see us perform and smile," says Daronte Jiles.

Students are not the only ones ready for the inauguration. Adults are ready to head to the inauguration balls and of course, they're all getting red carpet ready.

Lulu's at the Belle Kay is a popular spot for a number of Chicago's finest heading to the galas.

"We've sold everything from 1920's, we've sold a lot of 60's, again 60's and early 70's. High neck, long sleeve, beautiful fabrics," Lulu's owner Laurie Davis explains.
