Police Search For Witnesses In Murder of Father In Delaware

New Castle County Police are continuing to search for answers surrounding the murder of Wayne Cappelli.

Cappelli's body was found by the side of Delaview Avenue in the Brandywine Hundred section of North Wilmington on Monday morning.

Cappelli's friends were in shock over the 43-year-old's murder. The father of an 11-year-old daughter, Cappelli was on his way home from work at this Super Fresh Supermarket nearby just after 9 p.m. Saturday.

Detectives say he suffered blunt-force trauma to his upper body. He was found along the side of the road in the Brandywine Hundred section of North Wilmington.

Police have been searching the roads and alley of surrounding neighborhoods, looking for any clues that my shed some light on this brutal murder.  This is a quiet, middle-class community. Detectives confiscated some evidence, but exactly who killed Cappelli and why, remain a mystery. get his life together."

Police are also asking for the public's help in identifying the pictured vehicles that were seen on surveillance video driving through the area during the alleged time of the assault.  They are also asking for those who may have any details about the incident to call the Criminal Investigations Unit at 302-395-8110.

Detectives believe Cappelli was assaulted somewhere near the scene where his body was found. They also think a car may have been used in the crime.
