A couple was killed inside of an apartment near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road on Wednesday morning. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 4-month-old baby boy sound asleep in his crib.

Neighbors called 9-1-1 after hearing gunshots just before 3 a.m.

Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes says officers entered the apartment when there was no response to knocks and yelling.  Inside, 20-year-old Alexis Garcia and 17-year-old Fabian Valenzuela were found shot to death in a bedroom.

Garcia is the child's mother. Police are still investigating her relationship with Valenzuela.

Police say after searching the Maryvale home, they found information that made 24-year-old Richard Luzania, Garcia's former boyfriend, a person of interest.

Officers found Luzania with 20-year-old Christian Arguelles and several other people. According to investigators, multiple items of incriminating evidence were found and seized.

Police say Luzania and Arguelles were interviewed and both gave full confessions to killing Garcia and Valenzuela.

Both men were booked into jail and charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Murder and other related felonies.

The baby was turned over to Child Protective Services.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
