SEDONA, Ariz. -

A 28-year-old man was arrested after leading Sedona Police on a pursuit early Thursday morning.

An officer saw a vehicle that was similar to the description of a vehicle seen driving away from a theft in Sedona.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver, Nicholas Wayne Gunter of Prescott Valley, allegedly fled on Highway 89A to Oak Creek Canyon.

Police turned the pursuit over to Coconino County Sheriff's Deputies, who waited along the highway looking for the vehicle.

Deputies saw the vehicle and say they tried to stop it, but Gunter continued to flee from authorities.

Eventually a deputy put stop sticks in the vehicle's path, causing three of its tires to deflate.

Deputies say Gunter stopped the vehicle near I-17 and JW Powell Boulevard and began running on foot.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officers saw Gunter walking on I-17 and arrested him. Flagstaff Police also assisted in the arrest.

Gunter faces charges of aggravated DUI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, theft, unlawful flight from law enforcement and endangerment.
