Can this candy make your body smell nicer?

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

They look like ordinary candies, but these sweet treats don't just freshen your breath.

"Deo perfume candy is a candy that when you eat it, it leaves your skin with a beautiful fragrant scent," explained Joshua Brandoff, who handles the U.S. distribution of the product.

The candy is part of a growing trend of nutricosmetics.

Brandoff said they are products that are a "combination of something that's good for your body, nutrients, and a cosmetic that makes you look good."

In this case, it also makes you smell good, according to the makers. Once you eat the rose-colored candy, it claims to leave a fresh shower smell on your skin.

Brandoff says the best time to use it is during a workout.

"So what's cool about Deo is that the fragrant effect actually works through your perspiration, so it works together and you're not covering it up," he continued. "For people trying it for the first time, we recommend four pieces to maximize the chances of the experience, the effect."

If sales are any indication, the product, which started in Europe, is currently seeing high sales on Amazon in the U.S. and is in growing demand.

Brandoff added, "We're looking for bigger drug stores, to get this product out, just to maximize the number of people who can get to it."

He believes the trend is only going to become more popular.

"A lot of our male customers or the wives of male customers are saying it'd be great if you had lavender, so in fact, the manufacturer is working on creating a lavender version of this candy right now," he said.

Who would have ever thought you could replace a perfume bottle with a piece of candy?
