NEW YORK (AP) - Overall crime in New York City's schools dropped nearly 25% in the second half of 2012, compared to the same period a year earlier.
The Department of Education also said that the drop resulted in a 36% reduction in the number of student suspensions over the same period.
According to the New York Post the DOE didn't' provide raw data behind the crime drop. But the department said the number of total crimes was down 24.4% between July 1, 2012 and Jan. 7, 2013.
