PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. (Associated Press) -

Mourners will head to a suburban Chicago church to pay respects to an Illinois State Police Trooper who was killed last week during a fiery wreck on Interstate 294.

Visitation for James Sauter will be Monday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Morraine Valley Church in Palos Heights.

The 28-year-old from Vernon Hills was pronounced dead early Friday after a semi-truck hit his squad car as it idled along the side of the road.

Sauter became a trooper in 2008. His funeral will be Tuesday morning.
