YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) -

A 20-year-old man and woman are in custody after a man was killed in Ypsilanti near the Eastern Michigan University campus.

"There [were] quite a few police cars, ambulance, fire trucks, and a lot of people dispersed as soon as the police... got there," said Luis Diaz.

The Peninsular Place resident saw the emergency crews swarming the apartment complex Sunday night.

"I saw the ambulances last night when I was walking home from work, and [I was] just thinking... I hope no one died again," said Gabrielle Grant, who also lives in the complex.

This is the same apartment complex where EMU student Julia Niswinder was found murdered back in December.  Her murder remains unsolved.

This time the victim was a 46-year-old father from River Rouge.  He was reportedly trying to help his 19-year-old daughter, who was arguing with her roommate over their lease.  That 20-year-old roommate and her 20-year-old boyfriend could be facing murder charges.

The victim, John Lawrence, died from blunt force trauma.  Police are reportedly investigating if a frying pan was used in his death.
