Atlanta Archbishop Wilton Gregory celebrated a special mass on Tuesday, ordaining Monsignor David Talley as Atlanta's new auxiliary bishop.
Retired Pope Benedict XVI named Monsignor Talley, who is pastor of Saint Brigid Catholic Church, to become auxiliary bishop. He joins Bishop Luis Zarama in that role.
Archbishop Gregory said he was deeply grateful it was one of Pope Benedict's final acts as pontiff.
Bishop-elect Talley was born in Columbus and ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood in June 1989 at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
