COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

A former Cobb County teacher has been indicted for allegedly engaging in sex with a female student in 2012.

Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds says former McEachern High School teacher and coach Terrance Tarpley is facing a charge of sexual assault in connection with the incident that occurred on January 15, 2012. He says the indictment was handed down on March 28.

Tarpley, 34, could be sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined $100,000 if convicted, says Reynolds.

According to Reynolds, Tarpley is currently free on bond, and is being represented by attorney Ash Joshi.
