Plane flips while taking off from Phoenix airport

PHOENIX (AP) - Three people on a single-engine plane reportedly escaped serious injury when it went off a runway at a north Phoenix runway and flipped upside down.

Spokesman Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration says preliminary information indicates the Cessna 172 was taking off at Deer Valley Airport when the accident happened Thursday morning.

Firefighters say the plane's three passengers had minor injuries and didn't need to be taken to a hospital.
