BAGDAD, Ariz. -- A 30-year-old man was killed during a construction accident at the Bagdad Mine on Thursday afternoon. The pipe was 40 feet long, 6 feet wide and weighed over 5000 pounds. Firefighters arrived within minutes, but Thomas was pronounced dead less than an hour later. Thomas, of Many Farms, was a contract worker with the Freeport-McMoran Copper and Gold Mine in Bagdad, Ariz. The Arizona State Mine Inspector's Office will be investigating the incident.
