One Gwinnett County's finest was honored with a "Daily Point of Light" award on Friday.

Sheriff Butch Conway presented Deputy Steven Cooley for his  work establishing the STRAP program in Duluth.

STRAP stands for Seeking the Right Amendable Path. It's a weekend life skills and mentoring program for at-risk youth.

Deputy Cooley is also an ordained minister and U.S. Army veteran.

Some of his colleagues who volunteer with the program were there for Friday's ceremony.

President George H.W. Bush established the award to urge people to solve community problems through voluntary service.
