INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) -

Flames and deadly violence were involved in an apparent murder-suicide now under investigation in Inkster.  Police believe the victim's husband attacked her with a knife before taking his own life in the garage.

Police found the body of 54-year-old Cindy Bailey on the floor of her bedroom.  She had been stabbed dozens of times.  There was a bloody butcher knife on the bed and ammunition and a gun nearby.

In a truck in the garage was the body of her husband, Tony Bailey, burnt beyond recognition.  Police say he had doused the truck with an accelerant before setting it on fire.

Inkster Police say they are still trying to determine the motive.  They responded to an alarm at the home 20 minutes before the fire, but found the house locked up tight.  When they came back for the fire, they found the bodies and say Tony Bailey had left the gas on in the home presumably to try and blow up the house.

A candlelight vigil for Cindy Bailey is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Inkster Park.

The Baileys leave behind a grown son.

If you know someone and think they need help, there is a suicide prevention hotline.  The number to call is 1-800-273-TALK.
