NEWNAN, Ga. -

A retired Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent says he believes Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon is domestic terrorism.

Charles Stone was with the GBI for 25 years. He was part of the bomb task force and co-authored a book titled Hunting Eric Rudolph about the search for the man accused in a string of bombings, including one during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Stone said he saw similarities between Monday's Boston bombing and the 1996 bombing at the Olympics.

"I was at the scene at the bombing in Atlanta about five minutes after the bomb detonated and to see all the casualties there, same type, leg injuries, people that couldn't hear, people that were just in a daze from the concussion," Stone said.

Stone said that by looking at the smoke in Boston, he suspects it was a powder bomb that was set, which bomb which leads him to believe it was not the act of an international terrorist.

"I would say it was domestic or somebody didn't have a lot of bomb building experience. I do believe the person was looking for mass casualties," Stone said. "I mean, he wouldn't have put a bomb in a place that was filled full of unprotected spectators. "

Stone says the other undetonated devices at the finish line can be useful to investigators as they can contain fingerprints or DNA. Having a bomb intact will tell investigators how sophisticated it is and allow them to track the components, according to Stone.
