PD: Father hospitalized after stabbed by son

Posted: Updated:

Police say a father is in critical condition after his son stabbed him on Sunday morning at a home near 107th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Neighbors who say they have known the family for at least four years told FOX 10 the father appeared verbally abusive and that the son just couldn't take it.

The scene was still a shock to those who watched it unfold Sunday morning.

A friend helped clean up the crime scene after investigators left.

Blood could be seen splattered onto the front drive and sidewalk.

According to neighbors, police started showing up around 6:30 a.m. The crime scene tape that went up alerted them something terrible had happened.

Police confirmed a man in his mid 20's was arrested for allegedly stabbing his father after the two got into a fight.

The father was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Those who knew the family describe them as quiet, but say there was a history of problems.

Those who never met them, but heard what happened, just hope for the best.

'What's going on with people? Like what happened in Boston, then this. May we all live in peace, hopefully," said Rizwan Shah, a neighbor.

Names of the son or father have not been released.

Neighbors mentioned other family members were seen in handcuffs.

Police say only the son was taken in.

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 10 News for updates.
