PHILADELPHIA -

Olympic gold-medalist Ryan Lochte addressed his infamous interview right here on "Good Day" during the E! Network Upfront Event in New York on Monday, where the network showcases all of its new shows.

You may recall the Olympic gold-medalist was a little slow answering some of Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones' questions. And they cracked up after the interview.

Then, it went viral and was picked up on just about every blog out there.

So, Lochte's response is: "The more known you get in the public eye, the more haters you're gonna have and that's a given. But, you know what? All the haters, all the name calling goes through one ear (and) out the other and I don't mind it. The way I look at it the more haters I have it means I'm doing something right."

Lochte also says swimming helped train him to block other people out and just focus on what he's doing.

The star of the new reality show "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" also appeared on David Letterman late Monday night. Did the late-night host get as many laughs as Mike and Sheinelle?

Letterman did have a little fun with the 11-time Olympic medalist, asking him, "Which is your strongest stroke?"

"Honestly, I don't know," Lochte answered.

"Is there someone we could call?" Letterman inquired.

"You might have to call my mom," Lochte said.

The host went on to ask, "My God, you've been in three Olympics. Were you aware of that?"

"Yes," Lochte replied, nodding. "Yes, I am aware."

Letterman went on to quiz him on the host cities of each of those Olympic Games, giving Lochte a round of applause when he answered correctly.

Later in the interview, Lochte said, "I just want to bring swimming into everyone's living room. So, bringing swimming awareness…"

To which Letterman replied, "Hmm, swimming awareness. So, that's the show."

"Well, pretty much," Lochte said.

"He's bringing swimming awareness into your living room," Letterman said, to more applause. "Wow, that's pretty good."

In the 9 a.m. hour of Tuesday's "Good Day," Mike, Sheinelle and Karen Hepp chatted more about Lochte's comments. You can watch that video clip at the top of this page.
