ATLANTA -

Local fans are sounding off about two new designs concepts for the new Atlanta Falcons stadium.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority approved a tentative $35 million agreement with the Kansas City-based 360 Architecture on Tuesday.

Two design concepts were shown to the GWCCA's governing board, "Pantheon" and "Solarium."

Some local residents said the Pantheon's modern style looked out of this world.

"It's very bizarre, it looks like something from 'Close Encounters,' I think," said one fan.

The second design concept is called Solarium. It also boasts a retractable roof, but has a more traditional rectangular shape.

"Personally, I kind of like the more traditional look but I don't have money to go anyhow, so," said a fan.

It's important to note that neither of these concepts is considered a proposed design. In fact, Falcons and the Georgia World Congress Center didn't even have input. They are intended to show how the architects will approach the new stadium.

No matter what the new stadium ends up looking like, it will likely have naming rights. In Indianapolis, Lucas Oil paid $121 million for naming rights for 20 years. In Charlotte, Bank of America paid $140 to have its name attached to the stadium.

The architecture firm will now get with the Falcons and team owner Arthur Blank to work on a final design. They hope to have the new stadium up by the 2017 football season.
