CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A west suburban man is charged with the first-degree murder of a man allegedly killed because he laughed when told to stop selling drugs on the suspect's turf.

Deshawn Neal, 29, of Bellwood is jailed in lieu of $2 million bail. Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Heather Kent said Neal wanted 25-year-old James Wilson in January 2011 to shut down drug sales in the 600 block of N. Monticello in Chicago because it was Neal's territory.

Kent said Wilson laughed, which made Neal think Wilson thought he was joking. She said Neal left, returned a few minutes later, pointed the gun at Wilson's head, shot him and fled.

Neal was identified by witnesses, Kent said, and she also said that Neal admitted he shot and killed Wilson.
