MESA, Ariz. -

Police say a driver ran a stolen truck into a home near Horne and McKellips on Thursday morning. But what they didn't know at the time was that there was a second suspect.

Officers got a call reporting a burglary at an auto repair shop, about a mile from the home. Officers saw the truck and tried to stop the driver.

As the truck was speeding away in the dark, police believe the driver didn't realize there was an intersection, took the turn too fast and crashed into the home.

Laura Simpson and her husband were sleeping when the truck came barreling through the wall about 5:30 a.m.

Police say the driver climbed through the truck's window and ran through the home.

The homeowner went to see what happened, and the driver pushed past him and fled into the neighborhood. The driver, identified as Rogerio Trevino, was eventually found and taken into custody.

Police say Simpson's husband recently had surgery and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

"I almost slept in that room tonight. Because he was up and down and I needed sleep and I almost went in that room. But the good Lord watches out and I would've been in that bed," says Laura Simpson.

Almost five hours later, an insurance adjuster was going through the home and found a woman hiding in a closet. Veronica Gallegos was also taken into custody. She had apparently been a passenger in the stolen truck.

Police are continuing to investigate what happened.
