Chicago's Most Wanted: Jose Vicente Huerta

Posted: Updated:

Chicago police and the FBI consider this individual a danger to young girls after an attack seven years ago. But he has managed to be very elusive.

Jose Vicente Huerta is accused of sexually assaulting his biological daughter, who was just 13 years old at the time of the alleged assault in June 2006. As a result of information obtained through the investigation, Cook County prosecutors charged Huerta in March 2009 with aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child.

Huerta was released on bond pending trial, but he failed to show up for his scheduled court appearance. Chicago Police detectives exhausted all possible leads in their search for Huerta and determined that he not only fled the State of Illinois, but probably left the country. Investigators sought the assistance of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force and on January 10th of this year a complaint was filed in federal court, charging Huerta with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

While Huerta's last known address was in the 3600 block of West 61st Place, and there is a possibility he's returned to the Chicago area, FBI agents believe that's unlikely. Investigators received credible information that Huerta initially fled to the town on Queretarro, Mexico, and then may have moved on to Guadalajara.

There were also claims that he was in the town of Salvatierra, Mexico, and was even considering a move to Los Angeles, CA. So that is where agents are focusing our investigation.

The FBI and Chicago Police investigators are hoping that someone with knowledge of Huerta's whereabouts, either a viewer of tonight's profile or someone who sees this information and will contact the FBI so they can locate Huerta and bring him back for trial on the sexual assault charges.

Here is the FBI's description of Jose Huerta:

--Hispanic male

--41 years old

--5'5'', 195 pounds

He has been known to use the aliases BICATAN HUERTA OR VICENTE HUERTA.

He is considered a danger to the community, if you see him you are asked to call police.
