Love your name, or hate it, most people learn to live with what their parents gave them. But what if that decision could affect your future salary?

A study by TheLadders, a job-matching service, states your name has an effect on how much money you make.

If your name is shorter, the study found you statistically make more money than people with longer names. In addition, people who go by nicknames, like Chris or Debbie, were found to make more money than Christopher's and Deborah's.

The top five highest paid female names: Lynn, Melissa, Cathy, Dana and Christine.

The top five highest paid male names: Tom, Rob, Dale, Doug and Wayne.

FOX 10's Kristin Anderson reports on what's in a name.
